Encina is living with dissociative identity disorder (DID). She explains what it's like to live with 11 personalities in this video. And she introduces us to one of her alters.

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), It's estimated that 2% of people experience dissociative disorders, with women being more likely than men to be diagnosed. Because of the way dissociative identity disorder (DID) is portrayed in the media, most people don't understand what the disorder actually entails, or how common it actually is. In this Patient Spotlight video, you'll meet Encina, who sheds light on her experience living with DID. You'll also meet Minnie, the three-year-old girl living inside Encina's body.

“I wish people understood that this isn’t just an alter-ego. This isn’t something we just made up. These are other, actual people, with their own lives. Their own likes, dislikes. Their own taste of music. Their own personalities. They all look different. They just share one body.” -Encina Severa

Devin Moran : My mother had this disorder and when she passed I felt like I lost a mother a sister and a daughter all at once. She was my best friend.
Indigo and Orchids : Low key felt like his delivery could have been more sensitive at times. Tone is everything. Some questions or tones at times had me like She articulates her experience so well. Super grateful you highlighted this and let her share her story. I hope she has nothing but peace and healing. She deserves it.
Bill Balleza : Try to imagine the boundaries Encina’s boyfriend has to maintain while Minnie is out. Particularly since her abuse happened at that age. I’m beginning to understand her description of the many abusive relationships Encina has endured as an adult.
Eliana Boer : The amount of abuse that ppl have gone through and are going through breaks my heart. This can’t keep happening. This cycle of abuse needs to stop. Awareness is one step on the journey so major gratitude for this channel.

Tamara : I just went to look at Bo's youtube and the first video that I happened to click on is the poor girl saying she can't afford electricity or food and that she was worried doing this lad bible interview was gonna cost her more than she could afford, and more than it would make her. Why the hell in 2021/2022 are you not paying people for their time Lad Bible?
sandi fe4nandes : This is a brave young woman. I'm so glad she is getting mental health care. Bo, please be patient with yourself. Therapy is difficult. You have to go back to move forward. It was definitely worth it for me.
Sinenhlanhla : This is why movies like Split are so harmful because DID is extremely stigmatised and the people who live with it have undergone such severe trauma. I wish you all the best with everything Bo and thank you for sharing your story.
Ali Butterfield : I recently got diagnosed with DID… I feel so much less confused and less lonely after watching this. Thank you Bo… wish I could talk with you directly bc I’ve yet to find someone else who experiences this so similarly. We will get through. I’m a professional artist so I escape in my art and use my alters in my art and business like a chameleon but everyone with DID is very different due to precursors and situations… I have ptsd and bipolar and DID came on fully after the traumas. It’s not split or multiple personality disorder bc that means you have many personalities while DID means you have one identify but due to trauma and triggers you fragment your personality to protect that vulnerable piece of you.
